Roger Slagowski (age 49) and Carl Case (age 50) were arrested in Uinta County after a two-hour foot chase in the badlands.

UINTA COUNTY — Two men allegedly led Uinta County Sheriff’s Office on a two-hour foot chase in the badlands, according to a Uinta County Sheriff’s Office press release.

On January 29th, 2018 at about 1:50 am, a deputy from the Uinta County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a pickup truck for Speeding on Hwy 414 near mile marker #117.

As the deputy caught up to the vehicle, the driver slammed on his brakes causing the Sheriff’s deputy to brake hard to avoid a crash.

The red pickup truck then accelerated heavily reaching speeds of about 80 miles per hour and was swerving all over the roadway.

The vehicle braked heavily and turned off the highway onto a well site road, attempting to elude the deputy. At the well site, the vehicle drove out through the sage brush running into a wash and became stuck.

The driver, later identified as Roger Slagowski (age 49) of Vernal Utah, led deputies and assisting officers from Highway Patrol and Mountain View on a two-hour foot chase into the badlands.

The passenger in the truck also took off on foot and wasn’t apprehended until later in the morning, about 9 am.

The passenger was identified as Carl Case (age 50) also from Utah.

Both men stated that they had fled because they had Wyoming warrants and didn’t want to go to jail.

Slagowski was arrested for Eluding, Interference with a Police Officer, a City of Evanston Warrant, a Uinta County Warrant, and a Lincoln County Warrant.

Case was arrested on a Lyman City Warrant and Interference with a Police Officer.

Both men are currently incarcerated at the Uinta County Detention Center.
