Volunteers Help BLM Rock Springs Clean Up White Mountain

SWEETWATER COUNTY — On August 27, the Bureau of Land Management Rock Springs Field Office (RSFO), in cooperation with the Rock Springs Chamber of Commerce, held a very successful National Public Lands Day (NPLD) event. Volunteers and staff cleaned up areas around the base of White Mountain and installed three interpretive signs outlining travel and dumping regulations for public lands.

Fifty-eight volunteers of all ages collected an estimated three dump-truck loads of trash and other debris from two sites at the base of White Mountain. The Sweetwater County Landfill waived the fee for disposal of large items and Sweetwater County Road & Bridge arranged for transportation of the trash.

“Volunteers turned out in force and we were able to make a tremendous impact on these two sites,” said RSFO Manager, Kimberlee Foster.” She adds that the NPLD event will enhance the public’s enjoyment of White Mountain and that plans for future clean-up efforts are in the works. The BLM thanks all volunteers for their service at the NPLD event.
