ROCK SPRINGS — The state of Wyoming will contribute $5.7 million to help pay for Western Wyoming Community College’s nursing facility.
Representative Clark Stith, R-Rock Springs, shared news coming out of the Joint Appropriations Committee on his social media page this afternoon.
“This morning the Joint Appropriations Committee approved $5.678 million of state funds for WWCC to either build a new building or to enter into a long-term commercial lease for space needed for the nursing program,” Stith post states.
According to Stith, it is now up to Western’s Board of Trustees to determine how they want to spend the money. Building a new facility could cost around $10.25 million, which the college could use other funding to pay for it. Leasing commercial space could cost around $4.5 million over the next 20 years. If Western’s lease came in under the $5.7 million they received, they can keep the rest, he posted.
