Wolves Control From Start to Finish Friday

GREEN RIVER – After coming up short to Evanston on Thursday, the Green River Wolves took care of the ball and controlled the entire way for its first conference win over Jackson Friday, 67-53. Next up for the Wolves is rival Rock Springs on Jan. 26.

Chase Stoeger had five early and Devin Love hit a three as Green River jumped up quick on the Broncs, 14-8. Hunter Spartz was also big with six points as the Wolves led after a high-scoring first quarter, 22-16. Dakota Wingard opened the second and Hofer quickly extended the lead to ten, 26-16. Behind a Gavin Heiser three, the Wolves outscored the Jackson 15-12 over the final four minutes of the half to take a 41-28 at the break.

Love and Cameron Morris continued the pressure in the third as Green River extended its lead. The Wolves outscored the Broncs 14-11 as they jumped up 16 after three, 55-29, Jackson made a final push in the fourth but Love and Chance Hofer were too much down the stretch. Hofer hit two big buckets down the stretch to preserve the double-digit win.

Love led the way in the win with 16 points and eight rebounds. Hofer finished with 15 while Hunter Spartz was big down low with 12 points. After leading the Wolves on Thursday, Morris finished the night with eight.
