Below are a few suggestions and comments:

1. If you no longer need your sandbags and do not have room to store them, there will be pallets placed on Broadway on Monday, July 13th. Please place your bags on the pallets and City crews will pick them up to be stored. You may also take them to the pink building at the intersection of M Street and Broadway. This building is across from Broadway Burger.

2. If you have room to keep the sandbags future use, they are now yours to do with as you please.

3. The bag will naturally degrade from exposure to sunlight over time. The outer bag will deteriorate, but the sand will remain.

4. The contents of the bag can be spread out over lawns or tilled into garden areas.

5. Tilling the sand into clay-type soils can help reduce the density of the soils and promote water retention in lawns and gardens.

6. You can take the bags to the landfill.

7. If you choose to keep them on hand in case of emergency, store them out of the sun and away from any exposure to fluorescent light as artificial light can also degrade the bag.

8. The bag-tie can be cut, the bag emptied, and the empty bag stored. Consider placing some string with the bag so that it can be re-tied if/ when the need arises again.

9. The web is a good place to find other uses for sandbags facebook, Youtube and others all have entries of interest.
