LARAMIE– The University of Wyoming men’s and women’s cross country teams are set to host a rare home meet this fall, as the Brown and Gold will open the season by welcoming teams to the Wyoming Invite on August 31, in Cheyenne at the Little America Golf Course.

The race will be Wyoming’s first home meet since the 2011 Wyoming Cross Country Invite.

UW Cross Country Schedule

After a two week hiatus, the Cowgirls will race in the Woody Greeno/Jay Dirksen Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., on September 15, for their only meet that month.

The following week, the Cowboys will travel to South Bend, Ind., for the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational on September 28. The UW women are back in action on October 6, when they compete in the Roadrunner Invite in Denver, Colo.

The Cowboys and Cowgirls will split up and conclude the regular season at different meets. The UW women will compete at the Bronco Invite in Sunnyvale, Calif., on October 13, while the men will run at Pre-Nationals in Madison, Wis., the same day.

Postseason Races

Postseason action begins in late October for both teams at the 2018 Mountain West Championships. San Diego State will act as hosts for the meet scheduled for Friday, October 26.

Last year at the New Mexico North Golf Course, the Cowboys placed sixth out of eight teams, while the Cowgirls finished eighth among 10 squads.

Following the MW Championships, the Wyoming harriers will compete at the NCAA Mountain Regional hosted this season by BYU on Friday, November 9, in Provo, Utah.

Last season in Logan, Utah, Wyoming’s men’s team placed ninth out of 18 teams, while the UW women finished 15th out of 19 teams in the stacked Mountain Region.

The 2018 NCAA Cross Country National Championships are hosted by Wisconsin on November 17.
