SWEETWATER COUNTY — Wyoming Downs LLC will seek the approval of the Sweetwater County Commissioners Tuesday to expand historic horse racing terminals in existing bars and establishments within Sweetwater County.
Since 2013, Wyoming Downs has legally operated historic horse racing terminals in the State of Wyoming, and operates pari-mutuel simulcast wagering within Sweetwater County. Their request now is to expand to new locations in the county.
Eric Nelson, Wyoming Downs Manager said that historic horse racing terminals will “substantially financially benefit Sweetwater County and the city.”
Per Wyoming statute, 1 percent of the total amount wagered within the city and county is split 50/50 between the city and Sweetwater County. In the event there is no city, the full 1 percent goes to the county.
[Due to COVID-19 Coronavirus recommendations, the commissioner’s video conference meeting on December 15, at 8:30 am, will not be accessible at the County Courthouse.]
The public is invited to watch the meeting on the Sweetwater County YouTube channel.
The public can express any concerns during the county resident concerns portion of the meeting at about 8:40 am by calling 307-872-3891, or by sending comments ahead of time via email to: publiccomments@sweet.wy.us.
