Wyoming Horse Racing to Move Location in Green River

GREEN RIVER — The Green River City Council voted 6-0 Monday night to approve Wyoming Horse Racing LLC’s request to move location in Green River and operate pari-mutuel wagering in a new building.

Councilman Gary Killpack was absent from the meeting.

Eugene Joyce, President of Wyoming Horse Racing LLC, said they are currently located at the Town Bar and Grill in Downtown Green River. However, with two months of COVID-19 Coronavirus closures, he said they will no longer be able to lease out that location.

Therefore, this left Joyce with having to figure out where they could open up a new location to continue conducting pari-mutuel wagering on live horse racing, historic horse racing, and simulcast events in Green River.

The new satellite location that was approved Tuesday is at 110 Uinta Drive. The space has been vacant since Stellar Coffee closed their doors in July 2019.

Joyce said despite the two months of closures at the Town Bar and Grill, Wyoming Horse Racing LLC is still expecting to contribute $150,000 to Green River’s tax revenues this fiscal year.

He added that he will be looking into a retail liquor license for the location in the future.
