UPDATE: 7/8/22 @ 2:10 p.m. — Additional court documents show that Rachelle Morris was terminated for cause from YAH on July 1.

ROCK SPRINGS — A formal complaint was filed on Wednesday in Third District Court by the Rock Springs Young at Heart Senior Center against Executive Director Candace Rachelle Morris, William Morris, and the Early Learning Center LLC.

Court documents show that the Center is “seeking recompense of at least $970,060.25 in funds embezzled” by Rachelle Morris from Young at Heart. It further states that the alleged embezzlement resulted in “multiple fraudulent transfers” to William Morris.

The Center’s complaint also asks for the Court to freeze some assets belonging to the defendants including bank accounts belonging to Rachelle Morris and the Early Learning Center, LLC. Court documents list three vehicles owned by the couple that “may easily be removed from the jurisdiction of the court.” Those vehicles include a 2020 Jeep, a 2021 Toyota, and a 2021 Cadillac. A 2022 Jeep is listed in Rachelle Morris’ name only, according to the court records.

Rachelle Morris tendered her resignation from the Sweetwater County School District No. 2 Board of Trustees earlier this week citing “personal reasons.” She was elected to the board in 2018 and served as board chair for the last year.

The District announced the vacancy in a press release this morning and is now seeking applications to fill Morris’ position through November 30.

A search of the Young at Heart Senior Center website shows that Morris is no longer included in the staff directory, and lists Brianna Romero as the interim executive director.

When reached for comment, Romero said “this is an on going investigation,” and could not disclose any further information.
