ROCK SPRINGS – One event which has been a favorite for many residents is the Bowls of Caring. They YWCA recently gave tips on how you can host a Bowl Party while also explaining the reason for the name change.
If you are interested in hosting a “Bowl Party” it is simple.
-Call the YWCA to schedule a date, time, and location. If you do not have a location to host, we can help you.
-You provide the participants and we provide everything else.
-We will bring bowls and all of the supplies. Some like to provide refreshments, this is completely up to you.
-We will also provide a tri-fold for you to purchase (approximately $5) and decorate for display at the event on March 19. We could not do this without the community and we want to acknowledge your party at the event.
-When the party is complete, we will pack everything up (bowls and supplies) and take with us.
-We will glaze the bowls and fire them.
-Once completed we will contact you (to notify your group) and you can pick up your bowl. The cost is $15 which will include your bowl and a ticket for the event (soup, salad, bread, desserts).
If you have any questions please contact the YWCA at 352-6635.
Name Change
The question has come up “why the name change” from Bowls of Sharing to Bowls of Caring.
The former name was associated with the Bowls of Sharing committee under their federal tax identification number. As the committee has dissolved and the YWCA has taken over the event the name had to be changed to be associated with the YWCA federal tax identification.
Event Details
This year’s event will be March 19 at the Sweetwater Events Complex. Unique bowls are created to donate for the fundraiser. With the purchase of a bowl comes a ticket for a free meal of soup, salad, bread, dessert and drink at the Sweetwater Events Center in March. The all-you-can eat meal consists of many different donated soups and other delectables.
