UPDATE: The WYDOT travel information map shows Interstate 80 open in both directions. There are black ice warnings in several places and high wind — no light trailer advisories from Walcott Junction to Cheyenne, so be careful if you venture out.

UPDATE: 6 am: February 7, Interstate 80 eastbound between Evanston and Rock Springs has also been closed. WYDOT reports black ice in the Westbound lanes of I-80 between Granger Junction and Church Buttes.

CHEYENNE – Interstate 80 eastbound from Rock Springs to Cheyenne has been closed due to an accident. As of 8 p.m., the Wyoming Department of Transportation is estimating the closure to last approximately eight hours.

The westbound land from Cheyenne to Wamsutter has advisories in place. There is a black ice warning and an extreme blow over risk also in affect. WYDOT is advising no light trailers.

The variable speed limit signs have been activated and speed limits range from 35 mph to 55 mph. As soon as more details become available we will pass them along.
