LANDER – Both Farson-Eden basketball teams overcame adversity as they remain alive in the 1A West Regional Basketball tournament.

After losing to top seed St. Stephens on Thursday, the Lady Pronghorns responded to take down the third seed from the Northwest Ten Sleep, 52-34. On the boy’s side, the Pronghorns rebounded from a loss to top-seed Burlington to also beat Ten Sleep in a close one, 61-57.

On Saturday, the FE ladies will battle Encampment, the third seed from the Southwest. Encampment beat Farson-Eden twice this season, 45-38 and 56-36. The winner will qualify for state while the loser will call it a year.

The Pronghorns will also face Encampment on Saturday for a spot at the state tournament.  In both regular season matchups, Farson-Eden lost by around 20 points.

 

Other regional teams

The Lyman Lady Eagles qualified for state and will play for a regional title after beating Kemmerer on Friday, 74-54. Kemmerer will play Big Piney on Saturday with the winner of the game moving to the state tournament.

In 2A West boy’s action, Lyman was eliminated by Shoshoni, 50-47. After winning on Thursday, the Big Piney Punchers fell to Greybull, 52-50. The Punchers will face Rocky Mountain on Saturday for a trip to Casper and the state tournament.
