For several months, MHSC has been working on a contract with Shriner’s that would allow Shriner’s patients the ability to receive services at MHSC with their Shriner’s team through telemedicine.
After announcing the deal was being finalized at Wednesday’s board meeting, MHSC Chief Executive Officer Jerry Klein said they will start with the Shriner’s in Salt Lake City and as it builds, they will add Shriner’s locations around the region.
In past meetings, Klein said MHSC will not make a lot of money in the agreement but said this is not about money but getting local patients services at home.
Klein said they are hoping to have everything in place and rolling by the first of April.
It was also announced in previous meetings that Shriner’s families who travel to the area and may have issues arise can get assistance through the MHSC Foundation to help offset costs.
