SWEETWATER COUNTY — A Rock Springs man has been arrested after a months-long drug investigation.
In a press release Sheriff Mike Lowell reports the arrest of Jake L. Nyland, age 34, of Rock Springs.
In October, detectives assigned to the Sheriff’s Narcotics and Arrest Group (SNAAG) began an investigation into alleged illegal drug activity involving Nyland.
On Tuesday, detectives arrested Nyland and found methamphetamine, a digital scale, packaging materials and an undisclosed amount of cash on his person.
Nyland is charged with delivery of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (methamphetamine) and possession of more than 3 grams of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).
Delivery of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (methamphetamine) each carries a maximum possible penalty of imprisonment for not more than 20 years, a $25,000 fine, or both, and possession of more than 3 grams of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) is punishable by a term of imprisonment of not more than 7 years, a fine of $15,000, or both.
Sweetwater County Circuit Court Judge John Prokos set bond for Nyland on Wednesday at $20,000 cash or surety. Nyland remains in custody at Sweetwater County Detention Center as of press time.
Sheriff Lowell thanks the community for its continued support and reminds citizens all persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
