GREEN RIVER — The Green River City Council will need to decide whether or not to accept a $50,000 bid on Tracts B and C of the Old Lincoln School property or rebid the project at a later date.

On Tuesday, the Council will meet at its regularly-scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. at city hall. One of the items up for review is the purchase of the Old Lincoln School Tracts B and C.

The Council decided to look for a new buyer after New Peak Construction Company recently informed the city that it is no longer wanted to pursue the development of tracts B and C of the Lincoln School property. During a previous meeting, Council authorized city staff to advertise the invitation for bid for the sale of the tracts.

Council will also look at a development agreement for the sale of Lincoln School Addition Tracts B and C to William H. Smith and Associates, Inc. for $50,000.

The property is located on 8.75 acres and is zoned for single-family residential housing. The last appraisal for this property, dated June 15, 2017, determined the appraised property values at $100,000.

William H. Smith and Associates, Inc., were the only ones to bid on this property. According to a letter to the Council from Public Works Director Mark Westenskow, “While a development proposal, bid bond, and project schedule were submitted, the bid package did not include information on the housing proposed, other than to say it would be single family residential.”

The Council will need to decide whether to accept the bid or put this land up for bid again.

Other Business

Council will look at an agreement with Coldspring for a granite columbarium for the Riverview Cemetery. Even though the cemetery has three above-ground columbaria, staff estimates the spaces for sale will run out by the end of 2021 due to this type of burial becoming more popular. Coldspring also provided the 2015 columbarium and the one proposed in the most recent agreement will match that one.
