GREEN RIVER – The Lady Wolves dominated and Rock Springs used a big upset as both teams moved into the Gold Bracket at the Southwest Invitational in Green River.
The Lady Wolves defense pitched two shutouts on Friday while offensively scoring 16 goals. Green River opened with a 3-0 win over Lander and closed Friday’s action with a 13-0 win over Rawlins.
Against Lander, Lauren Hoyt continued her torrid scoring with two goals. Taylor Stoeger had an assist and a goal of her own in the win.
Against Rawlins, eight different Lady Wolves scored. Hoyt had a hat trick while Chezney Mamalis, Stoeger and Kenzie Lucas all had two goals each. Scoring was wrapped up with goals by Vaught, Maestas, Moffitt and Bartlett.
The Lady Tigers got off to a shaky start as Powell pitched the shutout. In game two, Rock Springs faced top ranked Star Valley who entered perfect of the season. The Lady Braves beat Powell 2-0.
It took 20 minutes before either team scored. It was Lange who got the Tigers going with a goal at the 20 minute mark. Nine minutes later, Bernatis added the second for Rock Springs. The Lady Tiger defense remained strong as they kept Star Valley out of the scoring books.

Because there was a 3-way, which identical scores, teams went to a coin flip for Saturday games. Rock Springs won the flip and will play in the Gold bracket. Star Valley then has the head-to-head vs. Powell, so the Lady Braves will play in the Silver Bracket and Powell in the Bronze bracket.
