BIG PINEY — On Saturday, May 9, at 10:30 am, Sublette County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were called to a residence on Milleg Lane in Big Piney, reference a male subject who had contacted SCSO Dispatch stating that he was going to commit suicide.
According to court documents, Deputy Mike Picerno was the first to arrive on scene, and located the male, later identified as Bryan Haselhuhn, 37, sitting in a lawn chair in the yard, holding a semi-automatic pistol in his hands that he would periodically lift to his head and then lower again. While speaking with Haselhuhn, members of the SCSO Special Response Team were called in and neighboring homes were evacuated.
After failed attempts to get Haselhuhn to put down his gun, Deputy Picerno tossed his cell phone at Haselhuhn so that he could call his family. Haselhuhn turned his pistol on the cell phone and fired once. As soon as Haselhuhn had his pistol pointed away from his person, Deputy Picerno deployed his Taser and additional units rushed in to secure Haselhuhn.
Haselhuhn was cleared by medical staff and transported to the SCSO Jail. He is being charged with Reckless Endangerment, Interference with a Peace Officer, and Property Destruction.
