SWEETWATER COUNTY — The final event of the sixth annual Mustang Versatility Trail Ride Buckle Series will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sweetwater Events Complex Indoor Arena.
Since this is the final event of this year’s series, top members’ accumulated points will go towards the year-end buckles and awards to be presented at this event.
The series offers trail rides, obstacle courses, in-hand events and timed games for riders of all ages to showcase their mustangs, although all horse breeds are welcome. As a special challenge, the Extreme Trail Competition is offered for riders 18 or older competing only on a mustang.
Daily entry fees are $10 for members and $20 for non-members. Annual membership dues are $25 per family or $15 per individual. All participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
As part of the event, the BLM will also host a wild horse adoption at the Rock Springs Wild Horse Holding Facility on Friday, Sept. 11, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Directions to the holding facility from I-80: take the Elk Street Exit (104), go north one mile, turn right onto Lionkol Road and follow for a half mile.

Youth and Mustang Challenge
The Youth & Mustang Challenge is a cooperative effort between the Mustang Heritage Foundation’s Trainer Incentive Program and the Bureau of Land Management’s Wyoming Wild Horse and Burro Program. It will be hosted by the Mustang Versatility group.
Four youth trainers, who accepted their adopted mustangs earlier this year and were required to condition and train the mustangs for approximately 60 days, will showcase their trained mustang during the Youth & Mustang Challenge portion of the event. The four mustangs trained by youth trainers will be available for adoption at the event.
