SALT LAKE CITY — A 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, around 7:15 Wednesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The U.S. Geological Survey, also reported the quake hit about 4 miles outside of Salt Lake City in Magna, Utah.

The Utah Emergency Management is reporting it’s the most powerful quake that has struck Utah since a 5.9 magnitude hit the St. George area in 1992.

Aftershocks are continuing to be felt in the Salt Lake City area, and will continued throughout the day, according to news reports.
