A Comm(unity) Minded Christmas

At Commerce Bank of Wyoming, we believe in supporting causes that make a difference in the place that matters most, our community.

The YWCA of Sweetwater County has made comm(unity) minded strides in our area for over 40 years and we are proud to sponsor their annual Festival of Trees.

The YWCA of Sweetwater County provides numerous services to our area including:

Melinda Baas Executive Director of YWCA of Sweetwater County is proud of the work they have done to
find new opportunities and build on the many services they offer. “By offering these supports we make our community a better place to live” Baas said. All funds from the Festival of Trees goes directly back into the YWCA’s local programs.

For the past seven years, The YWCA’s Festival of Trees brings Christmas joy to the residents of Sweetwater County and holds a special place in our hearts here at Commerce Bank of Wyoming. Tiffany Kindel, Vice President Branch Manager has served on the YWCA Board for the past two years. “I enjoy being able to give back to the community through this organization that supports so many individuals in Sweetwater County,” Kindel Said.

Bid on a 2020 Tree HERE!

Robin Allen our Business Development Officer looks forward to this event to bring in the holiday spirit and raise money for the YWCA. One of her favorite things right after set up, is waiting until the branch is closed, then shutting off all of the lights except for the Christmas trees. “It is so magical, I can’t even explain it,” Allen said.

Each year, area businesses and individuals design stunning and elaborate displays that provide a one of a kind experience that you don’t want to miss. The details put into each tree, wreath, and basket is astonishing.

YWCA Director Melinda Baas recalls her favorite tree from a couple of years ago. The perfectly festooned tree was Hogwarts themed from the Harry Potter Book series. Each ornament related back to the books, and instead of a star at the top of the tree rested a snowy white owl. “I love all the creativity of the people who decorate the trees,” Baas said.

The Festival of Trees is open to the public to view and bid beginning November 23rd –December 3rd at
Commerce Bank of Wyoming, 1575 Dewar Drive in Rock Springs during normal business hours.

Displayed trees, wreaths, and baskets will be available to bid on using the YWCA’s Online Bidding site.
