GREEN RIVER– With the help of donations, work restitution, and some Eagle Scouts, Green River Animal Control has been able to complete their backyard area, in which dogs can use for exercise and can be used during adoptions.

The Green River City Council voted to approve a budget resolution modifying the general fund budget for the Animal Control Division in the amount of $1,143 for the project.

According to Tom Jarvie, Green River Police Chief, Tracy Wyant, the director of Green River Animal Control, has been trying to make the backyard area usable since it was built.

Wyant used donation funds, youth with work restitution, and Eagle Scouts to complete the project.

A portion of the sod and all of the trees were purchased and installed as a Boy Scout Eagle Project. The dirt work and trenches were also dug by volunteers of the Boy Scout project.

“I would like to publicly recognize Animal Control for doing an awful lot with very little,” Chief Jarvie said.
