SWEETWATER COUNTY – The Bureau of Land Management High Desert District Rock Springs Field Office, in coordination with Sweetwater County and Fire District 1, is fighting the Dry wildfire approximately 40 miles south of Rock Springs, west of highway 430, and east of Dry Canyon and Salt Wells Creek. It has burned an estimated 162 acres.
The public is urged to use caution or avoid the area since fire behavior can change and fire spread is unpredictable if high winds develop. There are no road closures or evacuations in place.
The cause of the wildfire has been determined as lightning.
The fire is burning in pinion and juniper and is heading east in direction.
Firefighting resources include: an assortment of engines, hand crews, and air attack.
