BP donates equipment and funds to Desert School in Wamsutter; School and BP will host September 3rd back to school BBQ

WAMSUTTER — The Desert School in Wamsutter has received a generous donation from BP, one of the area’s largest employers, that will go a long way in addressing the school’s needs.” BP donated a heavy-duty ¾ ton pickup truck, a riding lawn mower, an all-terrain vehicle and $6,000 equipment grant.

BP was first made aware of the school’s need during Wamsutter Community Inc. meetings attended by Principal Kenneth Dietz and BP representatives. Principal Kenneth Dietz spoke of the generous donations, stating, “We here at Desert School are very appreciative of BP’s generosity and commitment to the Desert Schooll as well as the entire community.”.

The donations will be presented by Tom Robinson, Onshore Site Manager on September 3, 2014 at the Desert School. In addition, to the donations listed, BP employees will present each Desert School student with a backpack full of needed school supplies. BP employees at Wamsutter organized a school supply drive for the students.

To celebrate the generosity of BP, as well as welcome students back to school and to kick off the 2014-2015 school year, Desert School and BP are hosting a back to school Barbecue and open house on September 3rd at 5:30 pm at the Desert School located in Wamsutter. BP is proving the meat and will run the grill during the meal. All within the Wamsutter community as well as neighboring communities are welcome to attend.
