COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Wyoming’s McKenzie Brogan has been named the Mountain West Female Track Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. The weekly award is the first of her career, while she is the third Cowgirl to claim the accolade this season.
Brogan, a senior from Golden, Colo., won the 400-meter hurdles during Wyoming’s dual with Colorado State last Friday in Fort Collins, Colo. Her personal-best time of 59.30 moved her up to fourth in Cowgirl history in the event and currently ranks second in the Mountain West and 68th in the NCAA.
Brogan began running the 400-meter hurdles just this spring, but has finished first all six times she has raced the event.
Wyoming is at the MW Outdoor Championships in Clovis, Calif., this week. Action on Wednesday and Thursday features the women’s heptathlon and men’s decathlon beginning at 5 p.m. MT each day.
