Business Goes On As Usual for Town of Granger

Business will continue uninterrupted at the Granger Town Hall as Mayor Brad McCollum awaits his preliminary hearing next week.

GRANGER — Town business in Granger will be conducted as usual for the time being following the arrest of Mayor Bradley McCollum last week.

The Granger Town Council held its regular monthly meeting last night with McCollum presiding over the agenda. McCollum, 55, was arrested November 5 on a warrant for suspected felony theft and wrongful appropriation of public property.

During the Town Attorney Report last night, Clark Stith addressed the council concerning McCollum’s situation and what he can and cannot do while he waits for his preliminary hearing on November 25.

“As you probably all already know, in the United States of America, a criminal defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty and that’s codified in respect to public officials,” Stith said. “Wyoming statute says a person may be charged, but they remain in their public office until they are found guilty of a crime.”

Stith added that McCollum must abide by all of his bond conditions while acting as mayor. He posted a $1,000 bond shortly after his arrest.

McCollum, who was elected in 2018, will be allowed to perform all duties as the Granger mayor, including conducting financial business for the town.

He was alleged to have used one of the town’s bank cards for at least four separate personal purchases totaling over $1,300 during a six-month period in late 2019.
