CODY — A 61-year-old Cody, Wyoming man was killed when his stopped motorcycle was struck from behind by a vehicle on Saturday night just outside the town on Wyoming Highway 291.
According to a report by the Wyoming Highway Patrol, a 2010 Mazda 3 was traveling west on the highway approaching a 2014 Harley Davidson stopped in traffic attempting to make a left turn.
The driver of the Mazda was driving into the sun and failed to see the stopped motorcycle. The Mazda collided with the back of the Harley, causing the motorcycle driver to be thrown from the bike. The driver of the Mazda has been identified as 18-year-old Cody, Wyoming resident Megan E. McCann. McCann was wearing a seatbelt and not injured in the crash.
The driver of the Harley has been identified as 61-year-old Cody, Wyoming resident Daniel M. Tudor. Tudor was not wearing a helmet and succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash.
This is the 52nd fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2021 compared to 59 in 2020, 92 in
2019, and 56 in 2018 to date.
