SWEETWATER COUNTY — The Sweetwater County Commission will continue its discussions Tuesday for a position within the county to act as a public information officer for the commissioners.
The Commission will meet Tuesday, September 20 at 8:30 a.m. at the Sweetwater County Courthouse in Green River. The Commission pulled a discussion out of executive session on August 16 about the possibility of creating a county administrator position.
They presented the idea of having a position where someone acted as a public informant officer, or PIO, to help better communication between the county commissioners and the community.
“This discussion never started as a CEO discussion or a CFO discussion,” Commissioner Lauren Schoenfeld said during the August meeting. “It started as a discussion that maybe there was a gap in a few things that the commission needed to be successful, to be transparent, and to effectively communicate with out constituents.”
The commissioners said in August that the title for the position and the actual job duties had not been discussed yet. They also expressed their interest in leaning more towards the PIO position rather than a county administrator.
Tuesday they will pick discussions back up by talking about including PIO duties to a current position for the Commission.
