SWEETWATER COUNTY — The Sweetwater County Commission will consider approval of three grant agreements during its meeting Tuesday.
The Commission will meet Tuesday, July 19, at 8:30 a.m. at the Sweetwater County Courthouse.
The Commissioners will consider ratifying the 23/24 Community Juvenile Services Board Grant Contract, which establishes, maintains, and promotes “the development of juvenile services in communities of the state aimed at allowing early identification and diversion of children at risk of entry into the juvenile court system and preventing juvenile delinquency,” according to meeting documents.
The grant award is for $123,877, and requires an in-kind match that is met with regularly budgeted, non-state, county funding.
The Commission will also consider ratifying an amendment to the 2022 HAVA (“Help America Vote Act of 2022”) Election Security Grant Award. Meeting documents state that “the purpose of the funding is to improve the administration of elections, including enhancements to election technology and security”.
The original terms of the contract ended on June 30, 2022, and have been amended to end on December 31, 2022. The grant award total is $3,988 for a security camera, a lock for the equipment room, and polling location storage cameras and supplies.
The last grant award being considered is a Community Prevention grant from the Wyoming Department of Health’s Public Health Division.
“The Prevention Grant carries out data-driven and evidence-based substance abuse and suicide prevention plans through a collaborative effort with the local Prevention Coalition that positively impacts substance abuse and mental health in our community,” meeting documents state.
The grant total is $478,286 and Southwest Counseling Services will use the fund to implement an updated strategic work plan.
Other Business
The Commission will also hear a presentation on Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County’s SLIB Projects, an update on the Governor’s Colorado River Task Force meeting that was recently held in Baggs, and a Carbon Capture Inc. project presentation.
The Commissioners will additionally make a Solid Waste Disposal District No. 2 board appointment.
