UPDATE (8:52 p.m.) – Crews have been able to make progress on the fire burning near Firehole on US 191 South. SweetwaterNOW spoke with Sweetwater County Fire District No. 1 who have returned to Rock Springs. Crews have been able to knock a big portion of the fire but are still working to contain it.

Fire District No. 1 said the fire is a Sweetwater County Fire Department fire and they have taken the lead on firefighting efforts. Still no official word on the cause or the size of the fire at this time.

UPDATE – Crews are still battling a fire located near Firehole off US 191 South. Due to the fire the Wyoming Department of Transportation has closed 191 South.

SWEETWATER COUNTY – Several agencies are on scene battling a fire off Hwy 191 S. near Firehole Road.

SweetwaterNOW Chief Reporter, Derek Rayback, spoke with Sweetwater County Fire District No. 1 who is currently on scene at the fire. A spokesman for the district said they do not have many details at the time.

Crews From Fire District No. 1, Sweetwater County and the Bureau of Land Management are all on scene. Fire District No. 1 said they have also called for assistance from Wamsutter Fire and Bridger Fire.
