SWEETWATER COUNTY – Drivers can expect reduced speeds at the tunnels near Green River for the next couple of days.
According to Wyoming Department of Transportation Public Relation Specialists Stephanie Harsha, speeds have been reduced on Interstate 80 near Green River as eastbound traffic approaches the tunnels. Traffic is being moved over to the westbound tunnel so WYDOT crews can inspect the structures and conduct maintenance inside the eastbound tunnel.
Motorists and commuters will see speed reductions and head-to-head traffic briefly through the work area. The work will continue until about 6 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Crews will be closing the westbound tunnel on Wednesday for the same work. Commuters will again see reduced speeds and head-to-head traffic until 6 p.m.
The work is part of WYDOT’s annual inspections and maintenance on the tunnels.
