ROCK SPRINGS – In a press release Sweetwater County School District Number One announced that the entire community is invited to view the completed Eastside Elementary on August 20th, beginning at 7:00pm.
In the release the district said that Eastside Elementary was built on the same site that East Jr. High School resided, at 305 G Street. Eastside Elementary is a beautiful new building that will be the most recent 5th and 6th grade school in the district.
From design to completion, the project took three years, with two of those years being demolition of East Jr. High and the construction of Eastside Elementary. Charlie Van Over of Plan One Architects, a local Rock Springs business, was the designer of the spectacular new building, and Hughes General Contractors was the company that did the
heavy lifting of demolition and building.
Hughes General Contractors also built Sage Elementary, as well as worked on Rock Springs Junior High. The entire building, including the library, art room, music room, special education room, gymnasium, as well as all of the classrooms will be open and available to tour on August 20th at the Grand Opening. Not only will the public be able to wander around the 74,000 square foot building, but beginning at 7:00pm, there will be a Ribbon Cutting ceremony hosted by the Rock Springs Chamber, to celebrate the completion of Eastside Elementary with all of the community members.
Following the Ribbon Cutting, everyone will be ushered into the commons area so that those that worked so hard on this project can be publically recognized. It takes quite a team to accomplish a project of this magnitude and it is crucial that the Sweetwater County School District #1 acknowledge those that made Eastside Elementary a reality. After the recognitions, everyone will be able to self-guide their own tour of the building, with many helpful people answering questions throughout.
Sweetwater County School District #1 is thrilled to be able to invite all of the community for the Grand Opening of Eastside Elementary. Everyone is invited, so please mark your calendar for August 20th at 7:00pm for the celebration of this brand new school in Rock Springs.
