SWEETWATER COUNTY — Sweetwater County Public Information Officer Jason Mower reports that Sweetwater County still has no confirmed positive COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday evening.
Mower, who is serving as the media liaison for the county’s Emergency Operations Center, said that 143 tests have been taken here, and so far, 24 returned negative. He added that 59 tests were rejected because of transport delays due to weather. Thirty one tests came back as regular flu. Local health officials are now awaiting the results from the rest.
As it stands today, Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County is currently the only facility collecting COVID-19 viral samples for testing, but there are plans in place for Castle Rock Medical Center in Green River and possibly other local medical facilities to serve as additional collection sites.
“The EOC is also working diligently, in cooperation with Sweetwater County Emergency Management and local, state and federal officials, to secure and safeguard adequate personal protective equipment (PPE) for our local medical service providers and emergency first responders,” Mower said.
As of this posting, 30 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been reported in Wyoming and no deaths.
