FARSON — The Farson-Eden Pronghorns were crowned the six-man football state champions for the second time in three years on Saturday afternoon.
In a matchup between the Pronghorns and Meeteetse Longhorns, it was Farson coming out on top, defeating the Longhorns 42-30 in a dominating victory.
Due to COVID-19 Coronavirus, all state football games were hosted by the top seeds in each classification. With Farson’s perfect record on the year, the Pronghorns were the host site for the six-man state championship.
The Pronghorns got off to a quick start, essentially shutting down the Longhorns on both sides of the ball. A few turnovers in the first half helped Farson jump out to a 26-8 lead at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Pronghorns chalked up another 16 points and held Meeteetse scoreless, extending the lead 42-8.
Offensively the Longhorns found success in the fourth quarter, scoring three unanswered touchdowns. Despite the touchdowns cutting the Pronghorns’ lead to 12, Meeteetse ran out of time to complete a miraculous fourth quarter comeback.
Farson finishes the season with a perfect 11-0 record, celebrating the school’s second six-man state title. The Pronghorns won their first state title back in 2018, which featured some of the same players who competed in this year’s state title game.
Congratulations to the Farson-Eden Pronghorns on an incredible season!
