ROCK SPRINGS — The fiberglass snowmen for the 2022 Snowman Stroll have arrived and are ready for artists to transform into works of art.

The Snowman Stroll will kick off in January of 2022. Representatives from both the Rock Springs Main Street/Urban Renewal Agency and Community Fine Arts Center are excited that the 48-inch tall snowmen are here and ready to be transformed by local artists.

Earlier this year, the RS Main Street/URA was notified that it had received a $3,000 Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund grant to help for pay for its new Snowman Stroll event.

“The project grew out of a discussion on ways we could embrace winter more in our community. The snowmen will be designed to brighten Downtown Rock Springs during the darkest and often most dreaded part of the year,” RS Main Street/URA Manager Chad Banks said in a previous interview. “We aim to give the community something to look forward (to) during that time.”

Once the snowmen have been transformed by artists, they will then be on display downtown from early January through the end of March. Residents and visitors alike will be invited to take the Snowman Stroll while enjoying services and products from their favorite small businesses. The URA is also planning on coming up with family activities to will go along with the Stroll to further engage the community in the project.

During the off-season, the snowmen will be stored and brought back out annually.
