CASPER – The Green River Lady Wolves volleyball squad entered the Casper road swing with momentum but struggled over the weekend.
The Lady Wolves dropped to both Kelly Walsh and Natrona in road action. They fell to the Fillies three sets to one and to Kelly Walsh in straight sets.
The ladies entered the weekend winning their first two conference matches last week. Green River was also ranked in the fifth spot in the first Wyopreps.com rankings of the season after beating both Rock Springs and Jackson.
They opened weekend play Friday against Natrona. The Lady Wolves looked good early taking the first set, 25-18. Natrona came storming back in the second taking the 25-11 win to even the match. From there it was all Fillies as they would take the final two sets, 25-18 and 25-19.
On Saturday, Green River faced Kelly Walsh who entered ranked third in 4A. The Lady Trojans set the tone early with a 25-14 win in set one and didn’t look back. Kelly Walsh would take the next two sets, 25-8 and 25-14.
The Lady Wolves dropped to 2-2 in conference play and 8-7 overall. Kelly Walsh moved to 4-0 in conference while Natrona jumped to 3-0 over the weekend.
Green River will return to tournament play next weekend as the teams will take a break from conference competition to compete in Casper.
