Fire District #1 Set to Host Annual Trick-Or-Treating Event

ROCK SPRINGS – The Firefighters Association of Sweetewater County Fire District #1 would like to announce that they will be sponsoring the annual Halloween Trick-or-Treating at their headquarters fire station located at 3010 College Drive.

Due to COVID-19 Coronavirus public health restrictions that are in place, they will not be doing their annual haunted house. Instead, they will be conducting a drive thru event. Working with public health officials, it was deemed that a drive thru was the safest way to conduct the annual Halloween event.

Social distancing and public health safety precautions will be in effect and utilized by all firefighters. Firefighters will be wearing masks along with other personal protective gear while handing out candy.

“We ask that participants remain in their vehicles at all times while trick or treating,” Sweetwater County Fire District #1 Chief Scott Kitchner said.

The event will take place on Halloween from noon to 10 pm at the headquarters station in Rock Springs. The map below shows the entrance and exit routes that they would like traffic to flow.

Participants need to exit off College Drive at the traffic light and come to the front of the fire station. There, firefighters will be handing out their usual king-sized candy bars.

Traffic will then drive around the fire station and utilize the front service road to exit back onto College Drive.

“The firefighters of Fire District #1 want the kids in our community to have some fun, feel like kids again, and get back to a little normalcy safely,” Kitchner said.
