ROCK SPRINGS — The first group taking the guided tour of Downtown Rock Springs stopped by our office this morning led by David Tate who has served on the Rock Springs City Council since 1999.
David’s family has been in the community for four generations and he holds a Masters Degree in Historic Preservation. David was one of the original developers of the updated Historic Walking Tour and has a wealth of knowledge; he has a deep passion for Rock Springs’ history and beauty.
While the self-guided tour has been around for decades, the Rock Springs Main Street/Urban Renewal Agency (URA) is hosting their first guided tour, by local historian David Tate.
This guided historic walking tour provides an overview of the historical and cultural landmarks of downtown Rock Springs. Covering a wide range of architectural styles, and including anecdotes about the people behind the buildings, this tour is a great way to become acquainted (or re-acquainted) with the unique character of Rock Springs.
SweetwaterNOW’s office is stop number 38 on the walking tour. Here is a bit of info from the walking tour brochure on the colorful past of the K Street property which housed the Amazon Club and Rooms.
