LARAMIE — The Rock Springs Tigers hit the road to take on the Laramie Plainsmen on Friday, August 31.
Rock Springs dropped their home opener against the Sheridan Broncs last week 21-6. Despite the loss, the Tigers aim to secure their first win of the season against Laramie.
Laramie faces a similar situation as they came up short last Friday against Kelly Walsh 27-14.

The Plainsmen proved to be offensively sound last week as they posted 305 yards of offense and two touchdowns. Two of the top ten offensive performers in the state from last week will suit up for Laramie. Jason Upton and Baxter Tuggle combined for 279 of the 305 yards of offense against Kelly Walsh. The Plainsmen earned most of their yards on the ground. Based on their success it can be expected that they’ll likewise pound the football this week against Rock Springs.
Rock Springs’ offensive line paved the way for the Tigers rushing game. The team averaged 3.5 yards per carry last week which will have to repeat itself this week. Rock Springs isn’t afraid to run the ball and it will likely remain their game plan considering the Plainsmen yielded 350 rushing yards on defense against Kelly Walsh.
The Tigers’ defense ranks fourth in the state after last week’s game. Rock Springs convincingly held the Broncs to 0 points in the first half. Disciplined defense will make the difference in their matchup against Laramie and result in limiting Upton and Tuggle from having big games.
Kickoff is at 6:00 p.m. in Laramie, Wyoming at Deti Stadium.
