ROCK SPRINGS — Head Start reminds parents that it has openings available in both Rock Springs and Green River for the upcoming school year.
Head Start is a high-quality preschool program which also includes assistance and learning opportunities for low-income families in Sweetwater County.
School for the child is held four days a week, four hours each day with meals provided.
Applications are available at the Head Start office at 625 Ahsay in Rock Springs.
If a parent can’t get to Rock Springs to apply, Head Start staff will make arrangements to meet them in Green River.
Time is running out before school starts, so parents need to contact the agency quickly to complete an application.
To apply, parents should call the school to make an appointment at 307-352 3430.
Parents must bring verification information about what income they have had in the last year, as well as the child’s birth certificate and immunization record.
Head Start is very different from childcare—it is a preparation for kindergarten and an opportunity for the family and child to work toward that goal together.
Head Start is also different from other preschool experiences as its goal is to improve the situation and opportunities for the entire family in addition to providing education.
School begins September 1, and the Green River classroom will be in Truman Elementary this year.
