CHEYENNE – A focus on the larger drug organizations continue to lead to big sentences in federal court. A 44-year-old resident in Gillette was recently sentenced to 20 years on meth charges.
Antonio Moncada, Jr., 44, of Gillette, was sentenced by Federal District Court Judge Scott W. Skavdahl on November 12, 2015, for conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine and for possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Moncada, Jr., was arrested in Casper.
He received 240 months imprisonment, to be followed by five years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine and a $200 special assessment.
This case results from an ongoing Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) joint investigation conducted by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. The principal mission of the OCDETF program is to identify, disrupt and dismantle the most serious drug trafficking, weapons trafficking and money laundering organizations, and those primarily responsible for the nation’s illegal drug supply.
