ROCK SPRINGS – “Think of an elephant up in a tree. Think of a Kangaroo sour as can be. Think of a bird with a one feather tail; going on adventure down a dangerous trail.”
The Rock Springs Junior High is proud to present Seussical the Musical Jr. There are two performances the first on Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. and the second Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. Both are at the Rock Springs Junior High Auditorium.
Seussical Jr. transports the audience from the jungle of Nool to Circus McGurkus as the Cati in the Hat, the narrator, tells the story of Horton the Elephant. Horton discovers a small speck of dust which houses tiny Who people including JoJo, a Who child who gets in trouble for thinking too many “thinks.”
Horton’s challenge is twofold. Not only must he protect the Whos from a world dangers but he must also protect an abandoned egg left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird.
Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community emerge triumphant.
While admission to the play is free, residents can purchase a ticket and enjoy a little dinner theater. The RSJH PTSO will be serving a dinner prior to the production which begins at 5:30 p.m. each night. While ham will be served at the dinner, green eggs are not on the menu. Along with ham, the dinner will include potato casserole, salad, roll, dessert and beverage.
