GREEN RIVER – On Tuesday, Green River Mayor Rust proclaimed September 28th – October 4th as Diaper Need Awareness Week. The United Way goes to great lengths to help raise awareness around families in need, so they requested that Mayor Rust give a proclamation.
“The average infant or toddler requires an average of 50 diaper changes per week over three years, and diapers cannot be bought with food stamps or WIC vouchers, therefore obtaining a sufficient supply of diapers can cause economic hardship to families.
The City of Green River is proud to be home to various community organizations that recognize the importance of diapers in helping provide economic stability for families. We encourage all citizens to donate generously to diaper banks, diaper drives, and those organizations that distribute diapers to families in need to help alleviate diaper need in Green River.”
