GREEN RIVER – The City of Green River is pleased to announce the selection of Mike Nomis as Fire Chief.
Nomis, a resident of Green River, will join the Fire Department Leadership Team on August 29 th , 2016 where he has served as a volunteer firefighter for 25 years and has been Captain since 2010.  He served as Fire Chief with the Rock Springs/Sweetwater County Airport from 2006-2013 and most recently with Anadarko.
The Interview Team, which included a member of the community, a representative of the county, and city staff, felt very fortunate to have had five highly qualified candidates for the position. These candidates all possessed exemplary skills, leadership and many years of service that truly demonstrate their passion for the field.
“We could not have asked for a better group of candidates from which to select our Fire Chief.” the team said.
Mr. Nomis replaces Chief Mike Kennedy who retired in January of this year. Â The team would also like to acknowledge the work done by Interim Chief (Assistant Chief) Mike Liberty and Battalion Chief Larry Erdmann, along with all of the officer and volunteer firemen that serve our community for their service, dedication, and patience during this process.

Mr. Nomis will officially be presented his badge at the September 6 th City Council Meeting. The public is invited to attend.
