EVANSTON — Green River and Rock Springs will return to tournament action Friday and Saturday when both Sweetwater County volleyball programs travel to Evanston for Border Wars.
The No. 2-ranked Lady Wolves enter the tournament at 4-1 after opening the season at the Cheyenne Invitational last weekend. Green River won four of its first five matches, including sweeps of Campbell County and Sheridan, before falling to Laramie in three sets.
Rock Springs also enters the weekend at 2-3 after splitting its opening tournament. The Lady Tigers dropped three matches Friday before responding with back-to-back sweeps of Cheyenne South and Campbell County on Saturday.

The Border Wars schedule will allow both teams to face a mix of Wyoming and out-of-state competition while continuing to build early-season momentum.
Green River will open Friday at 9 a.m. against Logan, Utah, at Evanston High School before facing Rawlins at noon. The Lady Wolves return to the court at 5 p.m. against Layton Christian before closing the day with an 8 p.m. matchup against Bonneville.
Saturday begins early for Green River, with an 8 a.m. match against Bear Lake. The Lady Wolves will then face Juan Diego at 10 a.m., Cheyenne East at 2 p.m. and No. 5-ranked Mountain View at 5 p.m.

Rock Springs will also have a busy schedule, beginning Friday with Juan Diego at 9 a.m. The Lady Tigers will face Kemmerer at 11 a.m. before returning to action at 3 p.m. against Tabiona, Utah. Rock Springs closes Friday with Cheyenne Central at 6 p.m.
Saturday features six matches for the Lady Tigers. Rock Springs opens against Pinedale at 9 a.m., followed by Logan at 11 a.m., South Summit at 1 p.m. and Bonneville at 2 p.m. The Lady Tigers then face Hillcrest at 4 p.m. before closing the tournament with Pinedale at 6 p.m.
The weekend will provide Rock Springs with another chance to build on the response it showed at the Cheyenne Invitational. After a difficult first day that included losses to Cheyenne East, top-ranked Kelly Walsh and another ranked team in Thunder Basin, the Lady Tigers won both of their Saturday matches without dropping a set.
