Green River Tennis Takes Win in Rock Springs

ROCK SPRINGS – Teams continued the growing process as early-season tennis continued on Thursday. Although not a conference match, Green River was able to take Rock Springs in the first meeting between the two teams.

While early matches are important, like many sports, they are used to prepare for all-important conference play. Green River Head Coach Phil Harder said it best.

“It is a time for doubles players to build chemistry and for singles players to find their groove.”

Wolves vs. Tigers

It would be a mirror performance by the Wolves on the boy’s side. After a tough loss last time out, the Wolves responded for a 4-1 win over the Tigers. Jacob Lock and the Marchal brothers continued their hot play remaining perfect on the season.

Lock moved to 3-0 on the season with a straight-sets win over Tiger John Prevedel in the No. 1 singles spot. Playing from the No. 1 doubles spot on Thursday, Patrick and Gregory Marchal also remained perfect with straight-sets win over Jake Rawson and Nathan Baldwin, 6-4 and 6-0.

The No. 2 doubles team of Cody Lee and Andrew Halverson and the No. 3 team of Karsyn Beutel and Josh Graves made it a doubles sweep for the Wolves. Both teams enjoyed straight-set wins.

Kelby Kramer was the top Tiger bringing home the only win for Rock Springs. Early breaks helped Kramer cruised to a straight-sets win over Brendan Bloomquist, 6-2 and 6-2.

Wolves Coach Harder said overall he was pleased with the win. He said the teams started strong and finished strong in the win.
