CHEYENNE – Green River had a strong opening day as several Wolves and Lady Wolves will be chasing Regional titles in Cheyenne on Saturday.

On the boy’s side, Jacob Lock set the tone early for Green River. Lock went 2-1 on Friday and battles for a consolation title on Saturday. After winning his first match, Lock fell to Brenddan Lock from Cheyenne South, 6-2 and 6-2. Lock responded beating East’s Luke Macy 6-0 and 6-1 to move into the third-place match.

After losing to open the No. 2 singles, Brendan Bloomquist responded to beat Cheyenne South’s Wyatt Ebben. Bloomquist was eliminated in the next round.

In No. 1 doubles, Gregory and Patrick Marchal won both matches on Friday and will face the team from Laramie. The Marchals only lost four games on the day winning both matches in straight sets.

Also making it to the finals was the No. 2 team of Andrew Halverson and Cody Lee. After a straight-set win to open, the semi-finals would be a test. The Rock Springs team of Fletcher Wadsworth and Cole Weidle pushed the Wolves to a three-set match. Lee and Halverson won the first set 6-2 but dropped the second in a tie-breaker, 7-6. A break in the third was the difference as Lee and Halverson would advance with a 6-4 win.

The Green River doubles team of Karsyn Beutel and Josh Graves made it three finals for the Wolves. Beutel and Graves would also beat a Rock Springs team to move into the finals. After a straight-sets win to open, the Wolves wold beat the Rock Springs team of Deklyn Searle and Aaron Goldman in two, 7-5 and 6-1.

For the Lady Wolves, Anna Ujvary will play for third on Saturday after going 2-1 in No. 1 singles. She would open with a win but fell in her second match of the day. Ujvary rebounded to beat Rock Springs’ Keeri Klein to move into the consolation finals.

At No. 2 singles, Haylen Cordova battled strong but lost both her matches on Friday.

In No. 1 doubles, the Lady Wolves team of Isabel Leininger and Alex Palmer had to battle but they will play for a regional title on Saturday. They beat East in three sets to open and followed it with a three-set win over Laramie to move into the finals. The No. 2 doubles team of Ashlyn Edwards and Kaitlyn Sharp have title hopes alive on Saturday as they will face a tough Laramie team. The Lady Wolves won both matches on Friday in straight sets to move into the finals.

Joining Edwards and Sharp in the finals is the No. 3 doubles team of Audrie Harrison and Kelby Pope. They also won both matches on Friday in straight sets. They won their opening match 6-4 and 7-5 then followed it with a 6-3, 7-5 win in the semis.
