ROCK SPRINGS — It’s no secret that the Rock Springs Tigers have been the hottest team in 4A this season.

Sitting with a record of 7-1 on the season, the Tigers haven’t been this good in almost two decades — dating back to Jamie Christensen’s undefeated championship teams.

Heading into the final game of the regular season, there’s still a lot on the line in terms of playoff seeding for Rock Springs, which could end up as far down as the third seed.

Here’s a few different scenarios:

  • Rock Springs will be the No. 1 seed with victory over Cheyenne East and a Thunder Basin victory over Sheridan.
  • Rock Springs will be the No. 2 seed with a victory over Cheyenne East and a Sheridan victory over Thunder Basin.
  • Rock Springs will be the No. 3 seed with a loss against Cheyenne East and a Sheridan victory over Thunder Basin.
  • Rock Springs would tie for 2, 3 and 4 seeds with a loss against Cheyenne East and a Thunder Basin victory over Sheridan. Should Thunder Basin, Sheridan and Rock Springs tie in this scenario, East will need to have beat Rock Springs by eight or more points to lock up the No. 2 seed. Rock Springs would then be the No. 3 seed due to their victory over Thunder Basin earlier this season, which would put the Bolts as the No. 4 seed. However, if East wins by seven or fewer points, Rock Springs will be the No. 2 seed, with Thunder Basin the No. 3 seed due to their victory against East, which would put the Thunderbirds at the No. 4 seed.

Rock Springs could face a number of different teams depending on how it plays out. They will end up playing a first round matchup against Laramie, Cheyenne Central, Kelly Walsh or Campbell County.

Kickoff for the final game of the regular season is scheduled for 6 pm on Friday in Cheyenne.
