Welcome to #HOMETOWNHUSTLE – a SweetwaterNOW exclusive series where we highlight hardworking individuals in our community.
This week I had a chance to catch up with Traci Dean (manager) and a few other folks at Marty’s Family Restaurant and Bombers Sports Bar. Marty’s and Bomber’s are both local favorite businesses in Rock Springs.
The building at 1549 Elk Street has been the location of many different businesses over the years, but the longest-standing business to occupy the building is Bomber’s/Marty’s.
The journey started when Bomber’s opened up in September of 1993. The owner, Daryl Fellbaum has always been a big sports fan, and opened Bomber’s to provide a place for local fans to gather to watch their favorite teams.
Over the years, Bomber’s adapted and changed with the community. Bomber’s is now a local favorite bar. Residents head to Bomber’s to gamble, drink, eat, dance, and generally just have a great time. Each week brings something new at Bomber’s with themed events and parties.
When you walk into the front doors at 1549 Elk Street and take a right, you’ll find yourself in Marty’s Family Restaurant. Marty’s opened in July 2011 and has since been a place for friends and families to gather to enjoy delicious food, drinks, and watch their favorite sports. Let me just say, if you haven’t tried the wings, or had the turkey, avocado and bacon sandwich for lunch, or tried their BBQ ribs on Friday night – you’re missing out.
With a lack of Italian dining options in Sweetwater County, the folks at Marty’s have added an Italian menu on Tuesday nights and so far it’s been a huge hit!
Keeping a restaurant and bar open and successful for over two decades has come with many challenges. When I asked Traci how they have overcome those challenges, she spoke about the importance of hard work, perseverance, and taking care of employees.
“We try to treat our employees well and keep them involved. We want them to enjoy the time they spend at work,” says Traci.

Taking care of their employees is something the people at Marty’s certainly do. As of March 19, 2020, Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon and state health officers issued a statewide closure order that includes all bars and restaurants. They have instead adapted and found ways to keep their staff employed and keep the business running.
As these tough times continue, Rock Springs residents can still enjoy their favorite food and drinks from Marty’s from the comfort and safety of their own homes because the folks at Marty’s are offering delivery and curbside pick-up services.
“We are trying to keep as many people on our payroll as possible,” said Traci. “This is the first time we’ve offered delivery services and they have truly pitched in to try and figure things out.”
The folks at Marty’s have also taken advantage of the unfortunate circumstances by deciding to replace the carpet in the restaurant while their beloved customers are not able to come into the restaurant!
The owners, managers, and employees at Bomber’s Sports Bar and Marty’s Family Restaurant have a few kind words they’d like to share with the people of Sweetwater County.
“It’s been a privilege to serve this community for the last 25 years. We would like to thank everyone for the past and present patronage and we hope to see everyone’s faces in here again soon!”
