Update: As of 10:31 p.m., Interstate 80 remains closed both the eastbound and westbound lanes from Rock Springs to Laramie. The eastbound lane from Laramie to Cheyenne is open with a high advisory of black ice. The eastbound lanes from Evanston to Rock Springs have been closed. Update: As of 7:56 p.m., the Wyoming Department of Transportation website is reporting both the east and westbound lanes of Interstate 80 from Rock Springs to Laramie remain closed due to weather conditions. From Laramie to Cheyenne westbound lanes are closed due to an accident while high black ice and slick warnings remain in place on the eastbound lanes. Variable speed limits signs have been activated and have lowered the speed to 65 mph from Rock Springs to Evanston and vary between 45 and 55 mph from Farson to US 287,

Update: As of 6:35 p.m., the Wyoming Department of Transportation is still reporting the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 are closed from Rock Springs to Cheyenne. Up to Laramie the reason is winter conditions. From Laramie to Cheyenne the listed reason in vehicle accidents.
Eastbound lanes are open in Laramie and Cheyenne with strong advisories in effect. Eastbound lanes along the rest of the route appear to have been closed. Variable speed limits are in effect and are at 65 mph from here to the Utah boarder.

SWEETWATER COUNTY – The westbound lanes of Interstate 80 have been closed between Rock Springs and Cheyenne. The Wyoming Department of Transportation are reporting winter conditions are the reasons for the road closure between here and Wamsutter while from Wamsutter to Cheyenne the road is closed due to accidents along the Interstate.
WYDOT does have signs out on Elk Street informing tractor trailer units there is parking available at the Sweetwater Events Complex.
There is no estimated time frame of the closure at this time on the Wyoming Department of Transportation Website. As more information becomes available SweetwaterNow will pass it along.
