The driver of the vehicle was Trent Mcdougal, 35 of Riverton Utah.

Mcdougal had stopped his vehicle in traffic in the right lane of westbound I-80 due to a westbound road closure as the result of a previous crash. Terry Shank,53 of Payson Utah, was driving a Ford F-150 model pickup truck westbound in the right lane and for reasons unknown, failed to see the stopped traffic ahead of him until just before impact.

Shank swerved his vehicle to the left to avoid a collision. However, the right side of his vehicle struck the left side rear of Mcdougal’s vehicle. After impact, Shank’s vehicle came to rest in the median and Mcdougal’s vehicle was pushed off the roadway into the right side barrow pit.

Mcdougal was not injured. Shank was treated and released form the Evanston Regional Hospital.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol said that everyone including Ryan was wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash.

This crash caused a temporary road closure of the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 which re-
opened approximately 1 hour later.

Upon completion of the crash investigation all reports will be turned over to the Uinta County Attorney’s Office for their review. They will make the determination as to the filing of any criminal charges as a result of this fatal crash.
